a straw hat in the kitchen

28 November 2012

Hi, it is Petra here today.

Stockholm based studio Oscar Properties managed to turn the old straw hat factory into a very pleasant place for living. I like style of kitchens, used materials and connection with outdoors. Straw hat decoration on the walls is a tasteful reminder of the site history.

advent calendar ideas

26 November 2012

There has been a big interest in our last year advent calendar and it's was also featured on a few blogs lately, thank you very much for that! I made one from envelopes, you can see it here. I'm not sure what I do this year yet, maybe I will just dust off the one from last year. But if you are still on inspiration hunt for unique advent calendar here is a small line up.

You can use paper, fabric bags, paper boxes, tins, envelopes and even toilet paper rolls. And what to put inside? The usual chocolate, small gifts, books, cosmetics, sweets, lego, and even saw somewhere love letters ( for every day, imagine that!)

I do like the idea of wine bottles, but not sure how long I could manage, I think I would be really worn down by mid of December.

If you are not  into all this but still want to celebrate time before Christmas you can lit a candle every day.....

Will  you be making one this year?

All ideas and much more in my Christmas board on Pinterest

20 November 2012

Hi, it is Petra here today.

I like to work with paper and cards, creating with H. is relaxing for me, and enjoyment for him. Usually we fine with bits of paper or treasurers from our walks. It so sweet to see him how proud he is showing his creations to his friends and how much he loves playing with them.
If you would like to try to make these paper trees as a Christmas decoration, it's really easy, follow here.

See you next week!

Poilâne bakery

13 November 2012

Hi, it is Petra here today.

Nearby Saatchi gallery in London is Cuisine de bar Poilâne. This place seems to be ideal lunch spot on my next trip to London. It connects all I like: my favorite district, pleasant interior furnished with the best of Danish design and French bread. So if you will happen to be around Sloane square you can stop by and find out whether theirs kitchen is as good as interior.

See you next week!

thurloe square

8 November 2012

UntitledThis house is Georgian beauty in South Kensington in London and I found it through site called one fine stay. The concept of the site is you can stay in peoples houses while they are away and basically use it as a hotel. You use comfort of five star hotel but without downsides like someone bothering you at 8.30am to fold your toilet paper into triangle ( they say). They list homes in London and New York at the moment and I'm already thinking when next time in NY shall we try?

we love birds

6 November 2012

Hi, it is Petra here today.
Last weekend I moved a picture which I like a lot from the hallway and put it above my desk. It is a pleasant memory of last winter when Hugo was often standing by the window and watching birds in the surrounding gardens. He wanted to know their names and where are they hiding when we don't see them. We have a children's folk song "will be cold, will be frost, where you birdie, where you hide?“ So we got an idea of creating our two birds pictures glued onto the remnants of wallpaper and fabrics. Imaginary place where the birds are at home.

merry christmas gold foil card

We have gone all gold lately. And for Christmas as well. This card is now in our shop, and it's delicious. The paper is very matt and thick, the gold is very shiny and sleek. Address can be printed on a white address label or written by a white or gold pen. Luxury.

Are you thinking about Christmas yet?

2 November 2012

I have been playing with gift wrapping for our shop. I tend to change wrapping style and gift tags for our pictures quite a lot. And now I can't decide if to go with brown craft paper or white tissue for Christmas. What do you think?

if I was getting married.....14.

I normally prefer white when it comes to a wedding dress, but this cream one looks so divine. I also like the ideas of using leaves as seating cards, having a silhouette done just in minutes for entreating guests, sending invitation in a bottle and planting seeds for wedding favours. All pretty in cream and beige.
