luscious green parks

29 April 2010

We had an absolutely glorious warm day yesterday. Stayed outside all afternoon, wearing short sleeves for the first time this year and enjoyed walking and spending time together. A. is now incredibly adorable, talking, singing and running a lot. She is going to be 2 in June, wonderful age.
One thing about England I really like is the amount of parks and luckily we have one huge one just around the corner. I love going for walks. Ideal Sunday morning starts with big breakfast, long walk, reading papers and lazing around with family or friends. What about you? how do you usually spend your Sunday mornings?

very long wedding weekend

15 April 2010

A. is having an afternoon nap with M. He arrived yesterday, tired from travelling and last nights alcohol joined her and sleeps on the sofa next to me. I'm browsing my favourite blogs and sites. Days are getting busier and busier with excess alcohol and food bigger and bigger. Our friends are getting married on Saturday and by Sunday we will have five nights of dining and drinking, not that the wedding is that long, but there is lot of friends to see...I will be a very tired girl next week:)
After scrolling down on my blog roll here are some picks:

I would like to wear this dreamy dress

Can I get this bike please?

and this polar bear as well

I would like to live in this house

this made me dream

have a great weekend everyone!

talking to builders

2

13 April 2010

This week I have been talking to buildres, a lot. I don't how you feel about "them" for me it's always the same story. So far...
There is the little grin, the rised eyebrows, the small comments. Are you sure? hm...we usually don't do that...that is going to be expensive...
<span class=
Last year we decided to save our old country house and so far we rewired, built and knock some walls. This week I have been choosing tiles, boiler, shower screen, wooden floors, kitchen...and talking to builders. A lot.
For me is pretty simple. I tell you what I want, you tell me if you can do it and for how much. I don't do chatting, sandwiches and beers (in Czech). Occasional small talk and cup of tea ( in UK) is fine with me. Work hard be appreciated well. Simple. Too tough?
What about you? What experience do you have with builders? any interesting stories to share ?:)

I'm here at the moment

Thank you everyone for Birthday Congratulations and yes I had a great weekend. I dined, danced, ate lot of chocolate, spent time with family and friends. Wonderful. Although I didn't managed to do any Easter decoration, yellow tulips and new cushion cover slipped into our house. and little A. really enjoyed her egg hunts, at grandparents and in Ham house. How about you? how was your Easter weekend?

coloured rain

23 March 2010

it's been raining here in UK again so this colour changing umbrella could put smile on your child's face. The rain clouds are printed with special ink so they change colour when wet. Great idea. more about or to buy here.

20 March 2010

Just after we came back from Portugal I fell really ill. Me and my husband caught some sort of virus and bathroom and bed were our best friends for a good part of the week. But yesterday I fell much better, cooked homemade chicken stock, lunch, dinner (very unusual for me, all that cooking), bought tons of vitamins and fruit...all positive! Have a great spring weekend everyone!

I had wonderful time with my sister in Lisbon. The weather was perfect, warm, sunny, breezy and the city is great. It's very diverse, full of contrasts and culture. For some reason it remained me of Prague. We stayed for 4 days and did a lot of walking and chatting. It was so nice to spend some time with my sister, just on our own as we don't see each other enough, me in London and her in Prague. I miss her...and yes they are my tired feet...

We stayed in this hotel and I can fully recommend it. It's very affordable, with great style, simple and modern decor and the location couldn't be better.

One more thing . If you ever go to Lisbon make sure you visit Berardo Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

10 March 2010

Last week was my busiest ever week (sarah&bendrix) and it was very hard. It's becoming increasingly difficult to balance family, my work, little Anya and to be honest, normal life. I'm not complaining, no no ...I'm extremely grateful, but I have to change some things. To make everyone around happier and myself included. A. is so sweet and she is growing so fast! She likes to ' cook ' with me at the moment. She has got her little pots and pans..
Yesterday we had arty day. We were well prepared, but it didn't last long. A. doesn't like to be dirty:) After 15 minutes of painting she was closing the pots and cleaning her arms, and whinging ...."dirty..dirty" ok then..I just tried..
So we went back to safe territory and started drawing. She loves it. And the second picture? Her work after few hours. She is very patient for her age...:) just joking:) my 11 year old stepson's work.
I have to go pack now. Tomorrow Portugal! Lisbon! can't wait. Going for weekend with my sister! just us two. nice. See you later everyone!

1. one of my dreams is to go to Brazil...M. wanted to take me for my 30th but I was pregnant...my 33th birthday on Copa Cabana might be nice.
2. I love to dance..... These days I'm very limited to jumping around our living room with Anya listing to Black Eyed Peas ( she loves them..:) and her new favourite Shakira...not at all my usual choices...but it's good fun.
3. I love blogging, and the whole thing about it... I think one point you have to decide if you want to be a diary or a magazine. I think I became a diary with pictures.
4. I love to sleep, lately not much...but A. has a new game..."sleeping".... 'dolly sleeping, Anya sleeping' and then mummy sleeping...
5. I walk. everywhere.
6. I'm a night person. In ideal world I go to bed at 1 am and get up at 10am. So I go to bed at 1 am and get up at 7am.
7. When I was 17 I had dark blue hair ...very nice...

The sun came out for a bit on Saturday, which was wonderful, I so hoped the spring is here. We went to a local park with promise of a long trip on Sunday, but the weather was awful. It has been raining and raining and raining. Never mind, I'm getting super organised here in our house and lists are getting smaller and smaller:). I went out for a dinner with M. as well, so this weekend was...great!

I have been doing more sorting out, organizing, decluttering, little bit of shopping and spending time with my family. This weekend is purely my little daughter and husband. I'm switching off this laptop and putting papers and scissors into a cupboard. Hopefully the weather will be nicer and we can go for a little trip ...I need fresh air desperately and I want spring!!! What are you going to do? anything nice? Enjoy your weekend everyone!

fresh new week

15 February 2010

Hello everyone! Sorry for not being around but I just didn't want to bore you with the same old story, how busy or tired I was. After three weeks of doing night shifts, making pictures, I'm back to normal life. Over this weekend I had time to do big clear out, loads of stuff went to the loft, charity shops, shed (which is bursting) bin, ebay...Oh I love decluttering!
I'm really pleased with my new work space. I might move the photo gallery somewhere else, change the lampshades...but for now it's perfect.

I did want to say one more thing...thank you! to all my customers, not on the hight street, apartmenttherapy, petitandcutedesign, alovelyescape blog, fleuravenue, hapi-ness, iadorestyle and to all other kind people who mentioned my pictures last couple of weeks.
And what about you? how have you been?

name day and jack

4

6 February 2010

I know, I said I won't be blogging but I so need a break! and tomorrow is my name day (7.2. Veronika in Czech Republic, where I'm originally from). Not many countries celebrate it but I think it's shame. It's like a little birthday. Every day of the year is associated with someone's name. And mine is tomorrow.
One of the presents I got today was a book from my sister. Jack's Kerouac On the Road. I first read it when I was sixteen and I still love it. This book is very special to me and also this particular one is done in the same style as the original... Kerouac typed the manuscript on what he called "the scroll":a continuous, one hundred and twenty-foot scroll of tracing paper sheets that he cut to size and taped together. The roll was typed single-spaced, without margins or paragraph breaks.......

thank you sis:)
have you got name day in your country?
